Message from Vice President (Research)
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all delegates to the Fifth IIMS International Conference at Xuzhou, China with a warm “Selamat Datang”, which means, Welcome.
I wish to express my appreciation to the International Institute for Management Sciences (IIMS), Kolkata, Xuzhou Institute of Technology, Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS), St Helens and Cavite State University, Phillipines for their invitation to collaborate in this event. The Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA deeply appreciate such opportunities given in co-organising conferences to share our research findings and publications with both academicians as well as researchers. Faculty of Business and Management is the largest faculty in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM), Malaysia while UiTM is the largest public university in Malaysia.
Previous IIMS conference themes have been focussing on contemporary development and economic issues and this year′s conference theme ″Managing Development in Emerging Economy″ is a very timely one and well in line with the shift in global economic development which is now focussed on the emerging economies. This conference theme covers a wide spectrum of development issues ranging from environment & science & technology to human capital development issues such as education & development and finally looking at basic important issues such as economics, management & commerce. These are all pertinent in any economic development and more so in emerging economies. Managing development in any economy will look into all the areas mentioned above but it is more emphasised in emerging economies like China and India.
In addition to providing a platform to share academic research findings, conferences like this stimulate and encourage networking and other means of collaboration. Participants from both, developed and developing, nations who are present in this conference will be able to exchange diverse viewpoint.
I am very confident that this international conference will inspire academicians and researchers to discuss issues and challenges in managing economic development and provide policy makers ideas and views to bring back home.
I wish all of you a fruitful time sharing research findings and networking as well as enjoying a taste of the historic and cultural city of Xuzhou here in China.
Prof. Dr. Zaini Abdullah
Vice-President (Research), Conference Organising Committee
Director, University Technology MARA Selangor, Malaysia.
